Dwayne and Deanna have been traveling to Kenya since 2019. Their hearts were immediately connected to the beautiful Kenyan people. While in Kenya, you may hear them called by Onyango and Anyango - these are their Luo names.
The Gormans have a passion to see the church globally, locally and personally equipped to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ. They are actively involved in their local home church in Spring Hill, Tennessee. They have two American sons who are both married (Drew & Michaela and Dawson & Collette). They also have one adopted Kenyan son (Semeon) who attends university in Nairobi.
When Deanna was just a baby, her father, JB Cherry, traveled with another Pastor friend to build churches for Kenyan pastors. They not only built 50 church buildings, but they built a mission house to assist the missionaries serving there. Because of this, Deanna grew up with a love for the Kenyan people.
Almost 50 years later, God laid it on Dwayne's heart to raise money for Kenyan pastors to have Bibles available in their tribal languages. When he reached out to Director Maurice Odhiambo of Manna Ministries, little did they know that the exact amount raised was the exact number of Bibles he was lacking from a meeting he had previously that very day.
Two weeks later we were able to hand out those Bibles to pastors in Kibera (one of the world's largest slums).
From building actual churches to building spiritual foundations....the legacy of JB Cherry continues.
